HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope that you and your family had a wonderful holiday and are ready for the 2nd Semester. I have attached our calendar as a reminder for all events for the rest of the year. I hope to see you next week at our first Booster Club Meeting in 2012 as we prepare for the upcoming Winter Camp for Symphonic and Concert Bands.

Region Band Auditions are this Saturday! See attached information. I did not include specific directions since most people use a GPS. The auditions will be a Dutch Fork High School, 1400 Old Tamah Road, Irmo, SC. It is about a 30 minute drive. I recommend leaving your house at least 1 hour and 15 minutes before your child’s audition. This will give your child time to get there, find you room and warm up properly. GOOD LUCK!!!

As Thanksgiving approaches, let me share with you what I am thankful for.

I am thankful for my family and a wonderful career at Ridge View High School that enables me to work with a terrific administration and staff, as well as great students, parents, and a top notch band staff. I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Award Jackets and Patches
2011 Award Jackets and Patches will be ordered tomorrow. To be eligible, students must:

1. Have no outstanding debts.
2. Have no unexcused absences from rehearsals of performances.
3. Meet fundraising Fair Share of $500 ($750 for 2 in the same family).

• Note – parents may write a check for half of the difference in fundraising.
• Example #1 – Child sells $150 of Summer Fundraiser (out of $150 Fair Share), but only $250 of Fall Fruit Sale (out of $350 Fair Share). The total raised is $400 – which is $100 short. A check for half the difference ($50) would meet the total Fair Share.
• Example #2 – Parents or members would rather pay than sell. A check for $75 when the Summer Fundraiser money is due and a check for $175 when the Fall Fruit Sale money is due (totaling $250 or half) would meet the total Fair Share.

I have attached a list of students receiving jackets and/or patches. Please contact me at once if you believe that there has been a mistake.

Fruit Sale
Our Fruit Sale ends tomorrow! No extra fruit will be ordered. All forms and money should be turned in tomorrow. Information and an Order Form are attached.

Holiday Arts Festival
Instead of a Holiday Concert by the Symphonic and Concert Bands, the entire Ridge View Fine Arts Department presents a Holiday Arts Festival.

The Symphonic and Concert Bands must:
1 – attend the combined rehearsal in the Gym on Saturday, December 4 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
2 – Wear Black Formal and be in the Gym at our Call Time of 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 4.
3 – Perform in both shows (4:00 pm and 7:00 pm). We will offer pizza for students in-between the shows.

Audience members must:
1 – Select the show they wish to see (4:00 pm or 7:00 pm) and print their free ticket at www.blazerband.org Limited Seating; First Come – First Serve
2 – Arrive with both the printed ticket and 1 non-perishable food item.

Concert Attire
Symphonic and Concert Band members need tuxes (for boys) and a specific dress (for girls) for all concerts. Our first event is December 4.
