Blazer Band Finishes Season with Another Strong Performance

Although the Blazer Band received a disappointing 7th Place at the 4A State Finals this past weekend, the band gave a wonderful performance. All of the band members and staff were very excited after the show — as it was the best performance of the year! The two Music Judges had the band in 3rd and 8th place; the Visual Judges had the band in 5th and 7th place; and the Effect Judges had the band in 6th and 9th place. Congratulations, Blazer Band, on another great year!

Also, a very special thanks to all of our parent support in Boiling Springs — lots of parents moving equipment, chaperoning, and supporting us in the stands.

Blazer Band Receives Superior Rating at Irmo Competition

Congratulations to the Ridge View Blazer Band for receiving a superior rating at the Palmetto Espirit de Corps Invitational this past weekend at Irmo High School. Along with a first place finish in class 3A, the band received top scores in all captions. The event was cancelled due to rain during class 4A — so Fort Mill, White Knoll, and Dutch Fork did not compete. The Blazer Band looks forward to seeing those bands over the coming weeks. Good luck to the Blazer Band at the Olde English Festival of Bands in Rock Hill on October 3rd!

Blazer Band Wraps Up Another Successful Band Camp

The Blazer Band wrapped up three weeks of successful rehearsals at band camp. Through the hard work of the students, parents, and staff — the full 2009 production, The X Factor, is on the field. The band will be adding visuals, choreography, musical nuances, and focusing on cleaning the program over the next couple of weeks in preparation for football game performances and band competitions. This year’s band camp also included some “extracurricular” activities: themed dress-up days, a water/firehose “cool-off”, an America’s Got Talent: Blazer Band Edition talent show, a movie night on the football field, a two-night dodgeball tournament, and a bowling night. Look for band camp photos in the photo gallery soon. Again, a special thank you to all students, parents, and staff.
